How To Become Famous
Everybody wants to be famous. Well, maybe not everybody, but it is quite a common wish. However, becoming famous without committing any sort of crime is not always a simple thing. If you are looking for constructive, positive, legitimate ways of getting famous, prepare yourself for a fair amount of work. Sure, some people get lucky, but most famous people got to where they are today to lots of hard work and careful planning.
Before we continue, though, let us think about what we mean by fame. What exactly is fame, and what is required to achieve it? For our purposes, it is to find fame as being recognized in some unique way by a large number of people. With this understanding, we see that becoming famous as a matter of being unique. Being unique in standing out from the crowd in some special way.
Be Superlative
Fortunately, there are many different ways to stand out. The first, and most obvious way to become famous is to be the very best in the world with something. If you are the best baseball player, singer, actress, or motorcycle racer in the world, you’re almost certain to achieve some sort of fame. Does not matter how obscure the pursuit is, if you are the best in the world at something, there will be a large group of people that will recognize this accomplishment. Of course, this takes quite a bit of work. Not everybody’s got to be the best at something. However, if you are able to achieve this, it is a surefire path to fame.
Related, but not necessarily as effective, if the practice is becoming famous by being the worst at something. This might not be a good kind of fame, but if the Internet has shown us anything, it is that people love to watch others fail miserably. If you have failed miserably and spectacularly in some activity, there is almost certainly an audience out there for you. Of course, you have to be the worst at something in a memorable way. For example, I am quite terrible at ballet dancing, but that doesn’t give me any sort of fame. If however, I had tried to compete on a national ballet show with my ballet skills, I might certainly have achieved a level of notoriety at this point, at least on the Internet.
If you can’t be the best or the worst at something, try being the first person to do something. We remember the first man to climb Mount Everest. We remember the first man to walk on the moon. We rarely know the names of the seconds. Everybody loves “first” achievements. If you can get there first, and television story, you’ll almost certainly achieve some measure of fame.
Be Glamorous
Enough with the superlatives. If you can simply be a high achiever in a field that many people respect, you will achieve fame. Of course, some fields are better at getting you famous than others. As an example, I was decided to visit the grave of a famous mathematician in a cemetery in Paris. This same cemetery is also the resting place of Jim Morrison, the lead singer of The Doors, a very successful rock band. I was unable to find the grave of the mathematician, a mathematician who helped change the world. However, Jim Morrison’s grave was surrounded by a group of admirers. As good as his music was, he arguably did not contribute as much to the world as the mathematician did. However, he is most certainly more famous. Athletes, actors, singers, and other entertainment icons were able to achieve fame much more than those in other fields. However, this is not to say that you can’t do well if you’re not an entertainer. You probably won’t be as famous as though.
If you have the talent, the drive, and quite often the luck, you might just find that a career in entertainment is just the ticket for you. However, make sure that you genuinely love what you are doing, they’re not doing it just for the fame. You will be competing against a large number of very talented people, you need to make sure that you have some passion for what you are doing. If not, you stand no chance of succeeding.
Be Lucky
Another surefire way of getting famous is to be in the right place at the right time. In other words getting lucky. Lottery winners, witnesses to once-in-a-lifetime events, and even that guy who got struck by lightning seven times-these are all examples of people who got famous I getting lucky(or unlucky in the case of the lightning strike guy). Obviously, though, you cannot count on luck in order to get famous.
As you can see, getting famous is no walk in the park. It either takes a lot of hard work, a lot of luck, and very often, a combination of both. In fact, those who achieve fame often seem to wish they had not. Fame puts your life in the public eye, can change the lives of you and your loved ones forever. However, if they miss what you really want, you now have a path to achieve it. Now, find your passion, and get to work. Fame waits for no man.
